First off the October review is up, so go check it out and submit your own LJS site! Second and even more exciting (at least for me) the LJS Top Sites has been moved to my domain. Have fun girls. Friday, March 1, 2002 I just don't see the point of Role Playing Games that allow people to be more than 1 character. LJS, role playing, is what I'm talking about, of course. I can see playing a major character (like Stefan Salvatore) and a minor character (Frances from VD). But playing more than one major character? Boooooring. Especially if your game has about 5 players. Playing Elena, Damon and Stefan??? I'm no pro at role playing (i'm not even in one) but am I the only one who finds that ridiculous? Talk about manipulating the plot. I've seen two LJ RPs that practice this, one way worse than the other, and it's just laughable. ::shakes head:: Talk about desperate. Friday, March 1, 2002 Joined Lee's button exchange and got rid of the banner exchange. Too many broken banners and server direct link banners. Lee's looks a little more organzied. Also updated the top ten sites, making a few adjustments so everyone's banner is being seen. Going to go through and check links now, joy *sarcastic clap* Friday, March 1, 2002 Alas, the big move is over. Aside from working on my Secret Circle project, I'm also (at the moment) deleting Angel of Darkness from existence. It's sad, though I don't know why. As far as I know, no one used the images provides and or the font gallery (at least they didn't have the courtesy to link me if they did....). To be honest, I really liked how AoD was layed out and all. I really liked it. Oh well. So remove your links if you even linked it. Another thing leaving is the webring. bye bye, it only had one member. Have no fear though, a new webring will be up. And it ah... may look a little familar. At least the concept of it, is familar. I'm not sure how this will be accepted, hopefully well, but you know how this fandom is. *snarf* Now I'm deleting the Book Case. Thursday, February 21, 2002 *waves* I'm almost done with the new site. Just working on a guestbook and some other small changes. I also wanted to take a moment and vent. My top sites are doing good. Got a few more sites on board now. However... do people even READ the directions anymore?! I clearly state that if your banner is hosted on geocites, angelfire, tripod, envy.... that it will NOT be accepted on the server because those hosts do not allow DIRECT LINKING. Yet... over and OVER again, people submit their sites with their banner on those servers. Guess what people... I am serious about my maintence. Ask any of the existing sites, I send out regular emails warning people to KEEP UP WITH THEIR SITES. And I will delete you. The people that really annoy me are those who join again with the same damn thing I warned them about the first time. And then join with fake email addresses. But hello, I have your site address, I can easily find your correct email address.... Anyway, I'm done, feel less frustrated already. And boy my side links are out of date, seriously. Another letter from LJS has come into the light. It was sent to Leslie of Circle Daybreak and is as follows: What a nice surprise to hear from you again! And how beautiful the website is--I'm so impressed. The graphics are lovely and the whole thing is so creative. I love the way you've named the different sections after different books. And to think that it's been up for four years. As always, I feel a mixture of pleasure and guilt when I hear from fans like you. Pleasure because it's so wonderful to know that some people not only like my writing but seem to actually understand what I was trying to say, and guilt because I feel that I've treated the nicest people in the world quite shabbily. Once upon a time I answered every single letter I received...and then I started to get too many to answer in a timely fashion, and then suddenly I had a backlog of several boxes full. I realized I could either answer letters or write books, but not both. And of course, since my brother-in-law's illness I haven't been doing much of either. I just wish I could make every fan who has written me a letter or drawn me a picture understand that I love them for it, and feel quite bewildered and humbled by their kindness. Instead of which, I wander around feeling vaguely as if I should be shot. Which is also how I feel about the delay in finishing Strange Fate. Each time I think I'll have a month or so free to tackle it there is some new family emergency and my creative powers fall mute in silent terror. The last few years have been very difficult, not simply because of the dreadful things that melanoma has done to my sister's family, but because living under this shadow has changed my world view. Writing used to be so easy for me--it might have been trash I was producing, but producing it was simple and enjoyable. Now it's very difficult to get centered and to concentrate on fiction. I'm still going to finish the book. My whole heart longs for it...and longs for the day when writing will be easy again. But I apologize to everyone who's had to wait for it. Right now, if I could ask one thing of any young woman who reads my books, it wouldn't be anything dramatic about saving the world or even being kind to animals or other deserving creatures. It would be this: don't get sunburned. Enjoy your life, but wear your sunscreen if you're going to be at risk of broiling. Wear a hat. Melanoma is now the most common cause of death by cancer for people between age 20 and 30, and the sad thing is that it so much of it may be *preventable.* Doctors believe that frequent sunburns when you're young can greatly increase your chances of getting it. And what could be more stupid than to die because of a *sunburn?* Put it this way: the sun can be as deadly to a human as to a traditional vampire...it just takes a little longer.
